Meet Nick Denke. Composer of Divination.
Apologies for the lack of news lately. We've been busy with distribution plans. Here is the current status of Divination:
4 weeks ago we finished all audio and color. Since then we've had a private Cast&Crew screening.
Our goal is to sell the movie to a distributor. That way it can spread farther, and reach a wider audience, than if we distributed it ourselves.
We are currently discussing distro with a number of partners interested in the movie. And our Film Festival strategy has already begun.
It's too early to give out the details now. Our #1 priority is to give Divination the widest audience possible.
Thank you for your patience and for joining us on this journey. We're very proud of Divination, and can't wait to show it to you.
This is the first time (probably not the last) that we post a clip from the movie. The first 1:15 is the title sequence:
Notes from the Director:
Every image is the artwork of Gostave Doré. I wanted the title sequence to serve two purposes: To establish the worldview of the movie, and give a VERY brief primer on the conflict of spiritual creatures.
I liked Gostave's art so much because it looks like a historical drawing, as if the events were documented with pencils. I wanted the events of the past to feel credible and literal, like you were turning pages on an ancient history book.
All of this art is originally black and white. I added "old tones" and old paper textures to add to the "historic book" feel.
This sequence was designed and animated before we shot the film, it was a fun way to prepare myself for the huge task of telling this story.

The movie score is finished! All thanks to Nick Denke of Electric Muses. A detailed behind-the-scenes video is in the works. We'll post it in the news blog as soon as it's ready.
Here it is:
The audio for the movie is roughly 75% done. It will be done in a matter of weeks. And soon enough we will announce screening details.
Meet Karen Myers, the editor of Divination:

After several successful test screenings. Divination has been picture locked, the edit is done.
The musical score is currently being composed, and audio sweetening has begun.
After that is color correction….. And then a premiere.
Divination is now in Rough Cut form. Another milestone achieved.
The director and editor already have a game plan for the next version, and changes are underway.
The current runtime is 1 hour and 40 minutes. The final version is likely to be shorter.
The visual-effects shot count came to 443. That will likely increase before we're done.
After we finalize the edit the audio production will begin. We'll likely be way ahead of the Halloween 2011 deadline.
This is going to be a great year.
The new Behind The Scenes video is now up, showing the Drywall Fight:
This was one of the biggest and messiest scenes in the movie, but also lots of fun.
Thanks go out to those who were pivotal in making it happen:
Anton Boggio, Owner of JTEC.
Fred Nitschke and Brian Pohl, construction.
John Lammon and Mason Bailey, camera operators.
Here it is, enjoy:
